Giovanni Bozzetti wins his challenge.
The President of “Lombardia for Fashion” Committee, reaches the New York Marathon Finishing line in 5 hours, and donates a smile to the children of Suriname.
Milan, 7th November 2007 – The goal has been achieved: Giovanni Bozzetti arrived to the Finishing line of the New York Marathon, and all those who have betted on him, have given a concrete help to the children of Suriname.
The President of “Lombardia for Fashion” and his wife Donatella, have won their challenge. They covered 42,195 km. of the Marathon crossing the town, with the strong goal of arriving at the end, with the goal of helping the building of the Neonatal ward of the Suriname Hospital. This project is supported by Champions for Children Foundation, whose President and Founder is Clarence Seedorf.
The idea of betting on Giovanni Bozzetti’s success, was the basis of the project. Thanks to the endorsement of friends such as Saverio Moschillo, Belstaff, Livia Cardinale, Gilli, the Camera Nazionale della Moda and the Unione del Commercio, the amount of Euro 20,000 has been exceeded.
“It has been the best and the hardest experience in my life” – Bozzetti explained – “running with the responsibility of whom trusted me and embraced the project gave me the right pride to continue my personal race. Marathon is to me the life symbol: every day million of people run, prosecuting their goals, they even realize the enjoyment of the effort, of the difficulties, of the perspiration, of the method, of the resolution and the willpower. Each one of us, step by step, live its own marathon”.
Bozzetti prepared himself with intensive training sessions (programmed by Angelo Caroli), which scheduled 12 km. distance twice a week, plus 21/25 km. every Saturday. In this way Bozzetti reached the finishing line after 5. 01 hours, outrunning the member of parliament Daniela Santanchè (6.23 hours), the champion Gennaro Di Napoli (5.13 hours), Furio Corsetti and Gabriele Corsi (Trio Medusa – 6.29 hours both).
“We felt the weight of the Marathon between km. 20 and Km. 30 ” – said Bozzetti – we felt knees and legs pain, but there were a lot of people who continuously encouraged us. The best thing has been to cross all the New York neighbourhoods, encountering people of different social abstraction, getting off to the street. Another great thing was the complicity among the participants who share the same experience. But, the most unspeakable emotion was to arrive till the end.
When I was running my last mile, I cried and at the finishing line I hugged my wife.
