Para Junior League in the spotlight

On Sunday the 29th, Seedorf Stadium in the Surinamese capital Paramaribo played host to a festival of football organized by FUWIVA. Clarence was there in person, and he even donned his boots for the occasion.

This was primarily a day for families, especially organized to stimulate parents to participate in the sporting activities of their kids, a key building block in their education. The program consisted of matches between FUWIVA teams (comprising participants of the Para Junior League), and teams from the national soccer league.

Teams from the U-9, U-11, U-13 and U-15 age groups all took to the field. The FVWIVA teams emerged victorious in all but the U-15s.

At the end of the day there was also a special match which pitched the FUWIVA board members, including Clarence himself, against a team of Surinamese parliamentarians and government ministers.

Throughout the day there were also various special activities for parents and kids, such as a fathers against sons tug of war competition and daughters v mums soccer.

Proceeds raised from the event will be used for the coming season of the Para Junior League which will once more allow at least 640 children to learn basic life skills and values through soccer.
