Clarence Seedorf , Founder and President of Champions for Children, on Friday 5th june 2009 met Nelson Mandela as he became the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s latest Legacy Champion.
"It’s a very special day. I am making sure that the memory of his work will be an inspiration to the next generation. To have been for some moments with Nelson Mandela. For my whole life I have been inspired by his life and work. It is an honour for me to have become a Legacy Champion," Seedorf said after the meeting in Johannesburg.
The award was given because of the charity work of his organisation, Champions for Children. The organisation is planing to open a Champions Playground at Mannenburg in Cape Town.
"I tried to explain to him where Surinam was. I thanked him for everything he has meant for me and everyone else in the world. I shook hands with him as much as possible," Clarence Seedorf said.
